
MONROVIA – A high-level delegation from the Community Court of Justice, ECOWAS, headed by its President, Justice Ricardo Clรกudio Monteiro Gonรงalves, paid a courtesy visit to the House of Representatives ahead of the Courtโs Outreach Program and Legal Clinic scheduled to take place in Liberia from November 10โ16, 2025.
The visit forms part of the Courtโs regional sensitization activities aimed at raising public awareness about its role, mandate, and jurisdiction, as well as promoting citizensโ access to justice at the Community level.

Addressing Members of the House, Justice Gonรงalves said the outreach seeks to increase the visibility and ownership of the Court among ECOWAS citizens, emphasizing that the Court โbelongs to the people of the Community, who must understand its functions and make use of its services.โ
The ECOWAS Courtโs outreach, marking 50 years of ECOWAS, will feature presentations, legal clinics, media engagements, and interactive sessions involving judges, lawyers, government officials, diplomats, civil society actors, academics, human rights advocates, and students across the subregion.

Welcoming the delegation, Hon. Nehker Gaye, Chairperson on Foreign Affairs, expressed the Houseโs appreciation and assured the Court of the Legislatureโs full support and cooperation. The delegation presented a symbolic gift to the House of Representatives, which was received on behalf of the body by Hon. Johnson S. N. Williams, Chairperson on Judiciary.
