MONROVIAโ In a significant move to bolster coordination between the Executive and Legislative branches of government, President Joseph Boakai, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 convened a high-level meeting with House Speaker Richard Koon and members of the House of Representatives at the Executive Mansion.
According to the House of Representatives statement posted on its Official Facebook Page, the meeting, described as peaceful and inclusive, brought together over 60 members of the House of Representatives, signaling a renewed spirit of unity and cooperation among Liberiaโs elected leaders. Vice President Jeremiah Kpaan Koung was also in attendance.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Deputy Speaker Thomas Fallah expressed gratitude to President Boakai for his timely intervention in resolving the recent impasse within the House, which lasted nearly seven months.
He noted that the Presidentโs leadership played a pivotal role in restoring harmony and order within the legislative body.
In response, President Boakai commended the lawmakers for their overwhelming presence, emphasizing that their united attendance sends a strong message of reconciliation and commitment to national service.

โYour presence here today, in such numbers, is a clear indication that you are ready to work in the interest of the Liberian people as a reconciled legislative body,โ the President Boakai asserted.
The lawmakers assured the President of their support and pledged to advance his agenda for inclusive development across the country.
This landmark engagement marks a new chapter of collaboration between the Executive and Legislative branches, as they work together to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development in Liberia.

Former Speaker, Cllr. J Fonati Koffa was not seen at the meeting, apparently having written the House new Speaker Koon seeking two-month leave to engage with his constituents in Grand Kru County, who said when he served as Speaker of the 55th Legislature, his schedule on national duty did not permit him to work adequately for his constituents.
