US Ambassador Mike Toner paid Justice Minister Oswald Tweh a courtesy call

MONROVIA โ€” United States Ambassador to Liberia, Amb. Mark C. Toner on Wednesday, June 4, paid a courtesy call on Liberiaโ€™s Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh, at his Mamba Pointโ€™s office in Monrovia.

The visit comes in the wake of Liberiaโ€™s successful election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026โ€“2027 term.

During the cordial meeting, Ambassador Toner extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Government and People of Liberia on this significant diplomatic achievement.

He praised Liberiaโ€™s increasing role in promoting global peace and security, and described the election as a testament to the countryโ€™s renewed international standing and commitment to democratic governance.

โ€œThis is a proud moment for Liberia,โ€ said Ambassador Mark Christopher Toner. โ€œYour countryโ€™s voice on the Security Council will be important in shaping a peaceful and secure international community. We look forward to continued collaboration on regional security, rule of law, and democratic integrity.โ€

He lauded Minister Tweh for his leadership at the Ministry of Justice and called on him to continue exercising prudence, transparency, and accountability in the discharge of his duties.

He emphasized the importance of an independent and credible justice system as a pillar of Liberiaโ€™s democratic consolidation and good governance agenda.

In response, Minister Tweh expressed gratitude for the visit and reiterated Liberiaโ€™s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with the United States.

He affirmed that Liberiaโ€™s role on the Security Council will be guided by principles of peace, justice, and cooperation with international partners.
