32 of the Ministry of Health's officials have departed for China for a training

RIA, Margibi – Thirty-two health practitioners(32) have departed Liberia today, Tuesday, May 6, 2025, to participate in a two-week seminar on Public Health and Health Standards in Chengdu, Southwestern China. The training is scheduled to take place from May 9 to 22, 2025.

The seminar is fully sponsored by the Government of the People’s Republic of China and forms part of a strategic cooperation between Liberia and China to enhance the health delivery system in Liberia. The program aims to expose Liberian health professionals to international best practices and innovations in public health.

Speaking during a pre-departure briefing at the Ministry of Health on Monday, Assistant Minister for Curative Services, Dr. Teyah Sackie Moore, assured the Ministry’s commitment to capacity building and global collaboration.

He revealed that the seminar will allow participants to gain firsthand insight into China’s health system innovations and standards.

“Let us go and lift the flag of Liberia higher,” Dr. Moore urged, encouraging delegates to observe Chinese laws and return with impactful knowledge.

Dr. Moore disclosed that the partnership includes four key areas of collaboration, including knowledge exchange, health technology, software applications in healthcare, and regulatory standards.

Delegates will also hold discussions with Chinese health authorities and tour major health facilities.

It is intended to strengthen bilateral health ties and support Liberia’s efforts to improve healthcare outcomes nationwide.

The Ministry of Health extended gratitude to the Chinese Government for its continued support to Liberia’s health sector.

In an official communication, the Ministry expressed confidence that the selected participants will utilize the training to help modernize and revitalize the country’s health sector.

Dr. Moore concluded with a farewell message, encouraging the team to represent Liberia with pride and return with solutions that will support national health development.

Participants were nominated from the Ministry of Health Central Office, The National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), Liberia Standards Authority(LiSA), National Food Safety Authority, the John F. Kennedy Medical Center (JFK), Liberia Medicines and Health, Products Regulatory Authority (LMHRA), the Liberia Medical & Dental Council (LMDC), Division of Pharmaceutical Services/ Supply Chain, National Diagnostic Unit, Complementary/Traditional Medicine Unit and Clinical Supervisors from the Fifteen (15) Counties.
