First Lady Boakai

MONROVIA – Her Excellency Kartumu Yarta Boakai departed this Thursday morning for Freetown, Sierra Leone, to attend the national launch of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) Building Resilience Campaign.

The high-level campaign, themed, “Building Resilience for Women and Girls in the Face of Climate Change,” seeks to mobilize continental action and policy to protect vulnerable populations from the impacts of climate change.

This launch aligns with the commitment of OAFLAD First Ladies to introduce the continental campaign in their respective countries. As the sitting President of OAFLAD, First Lady of Sierra Leone H.E. Dr. Fatima Maada Bio is taking the lead by launching the initiative in her nation.

The official launch will take place December 12-13 at the Presidential Lodge in Freetown, where the Liberian First Lady will deliver remarks and participate in strategic sessions aimed at advancing women’s empowerment and climate adaptation across Africa.
