MONROVIA, Liberia — In a bid to boost morale and reinforce integrity within the judiciary, Chief Justice of the Republic of Liberia, Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay Sr., has awarded a 200-US-dollar cash incentive to judiciary employees recognized for outstanding performance.
The initiative, described as a year-end motivation strategy, aligns with Chief Justice Gbeisay’s broader agenda to promote professionalism and eliminate corruption within the judicial system. His administration has consistently emphasized a zero-tolerance policy on corruption, aimed at reshaping public perception of the judiciary.
While reaffirming his commitment to uprooting corrupt practices, the Chief Justice disclosed that his administration plans to institutionalize annual employee awards as a way of encouraging dedication, discipline, and ethical conduct. As part of these reforms, a Judicial Monitoring and Evaluation Committee has been established to investigate alleged acts of corruption involving judicial staff and to monitor the conduct of legal practitioners.
The award ceremony was held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia. According to Court Administrator Cllr. William B. Kollie Sr., the recognition program is the first of its kind at the Supreme Court in more than 15 years.
Speaking during the ceremony, Chief Justice Gbeisay said the gathering was intended to recognize and appreciate judiciary employees who have distinguished themselves through hard work and results-driven service. He praised the honorees for demonstrating commitment, punctuality, discipline, and a willingness to go beyond their assigned duties.
He noted that the award recipients had been carefully observed and proven to be ethical, respectful, and dedicated public servants. “Your contributions have not gone unnoticed,” the Chief Justice said, adding that the Supreme Court is proud to have such individuals serving within Liberia’s legal system.
Addressing the honorees directly, Chief Justice Gbeisay emphasized the importance of celebrating dedication while individuals are still alive. He described the award as a recognition of their service to country and passion for duty, encouraging them to continue setting positive examples within the judiciary.
The program marks a renewed effort by the Supreme Court to motivate staff, strengthen accountability, and promote excellence in public service.
