Residents of Gbarpolu County District Two have received a major boost in healthcare delivery following the donation of a brand-new ambulance by their representative, Luther Collins.
The ambulance, officially presented to the district, is intended to improve access to emergency medical services, particularly for people living in remote and hard-to-reach communities.
For years, residents have struggled to transport the sick, pregnant women, and children to health facilities, often relying on motorbikes and other unsafe means.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Representative Collins said the donation reflects his commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of his constituents.

He described the ambulance as a “lifeline,” noting that timely medical intervention can mean the difference between life and death.
According to Representative Collins, the lack of reliable emergency transportation has contributed to preventable deaths in the district.
He assured residents that his support to the health sector will not end with the ambulance donation, adding that his office will continue to assist through the provision of drugs and other essential medical supplies.
“I remain committed to championing initiatives that will improve access to quality healthcare for our people,” Representative Collins said.
Meanwhile, the Gbarpolu County Health Team has welcomed the donation, describing it as a critical step toward reducing maternal and emergency-related deaths in the county.

The County Director of Community Health Services, Benny Clarke, emphasized that ambulance services are vital for timely referrals, especially during medical emergencies.
He said delays in transporting patients to referral facilities have long been a major public health challenge in the county.
Mr. Clarke praised Representative Collins for the intervention and assured him of the health team’s commitment to advancing the county’s health agenda.
He noted that the ambulance will significantly improve emergency response, particularly in Bokumu District, where access to healthcare remains difficult.
Speaking on behalf of the county health team, Mr. Clarke urged residents to take full ownership of the ambulance, stressing the need for proper care and responsible use to ensure sustainable service delivery.
