WEST POINT, Monrovia – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has formally charged Amos Tamba with manslaughter in connection with the death of Edmond Mayson, which occurred on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, in the West Point community of Monrovia.
According to police reports, the incident took place at Power Plant Beach in West Point, where Mayson allegedly attempted to obtain additional narcotic substances being distributed by Tamba. When Tamba reportedly refused, the situation escalated into a heated verbal exchange that quickly turned physical.
Police said that during the altercation, Mayson, who was allegedly armed with a kitchen knife, struck Tamba several times on the head. In the ensuing struggle, Tamba reportedly wrested control of the knife and stabbed Mayson in the upper left chest and above the left eye.
Mayson was immediately rushed to the West Point Clinic and later referred to the John F. Kennedy Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Following the incident, Tamba allegedly fled the scene and disposed of the knife used in the stabbing.
The investigation was conducted by the Crimes Against Persons Unit (CAPU) of the Crime Services Department of the Liberia National Police. Authorities say the matter remains under active investigation as legal proceedings move forward.
