-LNTA Steps Up Global Exposure strategy to position Liberia as an emerging cultural and travel destination
MONROVIA, Liberia — The Government of Liberia has confirmed the upcoming visit of internationally renowned digital content creator Darren Watkins Jr., popularly known as iShowSpeed, as part of a strategic push to amplify Liberia’s visibility on the global tourism map.
In an official statement issued on January 8, 2026, the Liberia National Tourism Authority (LNTA) announced that iShowSpeed’s visit, dubbed “The Liberian Experience,” will form part of his widely followed “Speed Does Africa” tour. The visit is being facilitated by the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in close coordination with LNTA and other relevant institutions to ensure a safe, well-coordinated, and culturally respectful engagement.
According to the statement, the visit presents a rare and powerful opportunity to project Liberia’s brand image to millions of global viewers, particularly younger, digitally connected audiences who consume real-time content across platforms such as YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram. iShowSpeed is known for immersive, unscripted livestreams that capture local culture, everyday life, food, music, and interactions with ordinary people—an approach that aligns with LNTA’s emphasis on authentic storytelling.

During his stay, the content creator is expected to engage directly with Liberia’s urban culture, communities, and culinary experiences while showcasing the country’s famed hospitality. Officials believe this organic exposure could significantly boost international curiosity about Liberia as a destination for cultural tourism, heritage exploration, and experiential travel.
A Broader Tourism Exposure Strategy
LNTA says the iShowSpeed visit fits into a broader, evolving strategy aimed at repositioning Liberia’s tourism sector through digital storytelling, influencer engagement, and international partnerships. In recent years, the Authority has intensified efforts to promote Liberia’s beaches, historical landmarks, eco-tourism assets, and rich cultural diversity to global audiences.
These efforts include branding initiatives such as “Enjoy Liberia,” engagement with members of the Liberian diaspora as tourism ambassadors, participation in international travel expos, and collaboration with foreign missions to spotlight Liberia’s untapped tourism potential. LNTA has also prioritized cultural diplomacy—using arts, music, fashion, and cuisine to tell Liberia’s story beyond traditional tourism marketing.
“As the Government’s lead tourism and culture institution, LNTA remains committed to showcasing Liberia’s cultural heritage, hospitality, and people in an authentic and positive manner,” the statement noted, while encouraging Liberians at home and abroad to take pride in presenting the country’s best image to the world.

Digital Influence Meets National Branding
Tourism analysts say the use of high-profile digital creators reflects a growing global trend where countries leverage influencer-led content to complement conventional tourism campaigns. With millions of followers and strong engagement metrics, iShowSpeed’s platforms offer Liberia access to an audience that traditional advertising may not easily reach.
Officials stress that the visit is not merely a celebrity appearance but part of a calculated effort to modernize Liberia’s tourism outreach, particularly as global travel rebounds and competition for visibility intensifies across Africa.
LNTA has assured the public that further updates on the visit and planned activities will be released through official channels. As anticipation builds, stakeholders across the tourism, hospitality, and creative sectors are hopeful that the visit will translate into sustained interest, increased arrivals, and renewed global curiosity about Liberia’s story, culture, and people.
