KAKATA, Margibi County — The Liberia Land Authority (LLA), through its Margibi County Office, has officially launched a Land Rights Awareness Campaign aimed at educating citizens on land ownership, land registration procedures, and new policies and New Deed forms designed to strengthen land security and reduce disputes across the county.
The campaign, which commenced on January 15, 2026, is part of the Margibi County Office’s 2026 Strategic Action Plan. It seeks to improve public understanding of the legal processes involved in acquiring and registering land and property, raise awareness of the newly introduced land registration fee policy, and introduce enhanced security features embedded in the newly designed deed form.

According to the LLA, the initiative also aims to increase public awareness of the Authority’s mandate and operations, while contributing to the prevention and reduction of land-related conflicts within communities.
On the first day of the campaign, the outreach team engaged residents at the Kakata General Markets, a location strategically selected due to its high population density and the diverse cross-section of citizens it attracts from across Margibi County. The team conducted face-to-face sensitization sessions with market women, traders, shoppers, and other members of the public.

During the engagement, the team explained the legal requirements and procedures for land acquisition and registration, clarified common misconceptions surrounding land ownership and documentation, and provided detailed information on the new deed form and its enhanced security features designed to prevent fraud and document tampering. Participants were also given the opportunity to ask questions and raise concerns, particularly on land disputes and land administration processes.
Key messages emphasized during the outreach included the importance of following legally recognized procedures to ensure valid land ownership, the role of the new registration fee policy in improving transparency and efficiency, and the need for citizens to engage directly with the Liberia Land Authority for accurate information and services.

The campaign is being led by the Acting Land Administrator for Margibi County, Mr. William Wreh, alongside Mr. Abraham Melin, who jointly head the outreach team. Their leadership reflects the Authority’s commitment to effective communication, public engagement, and accountable land administration.
The Land Rights Awareness Campaign forms part of the Margibi County Office’s broader strategy to strengthen public trust in land governance, promote lawful land transactions, prevent land-related conflicts, and achieve the objectives outlined in its 2026 Strategic Plan.

The Liberia Land Authority, Margibi County Office, has reaffirmed its commitment to educating the public and fostering a well-informed citizenry on land rights and responsibilities. Additional phases of the awareness campaign are expected to continue in other communities across Margibi County in the coming weeks.
Reacting to the ongoing awareness efforts, Hon. Samuel F. Kpakio, Chairman of the Liberia Land Authority, commended the Margibi county land administrator and his hardworking staff for their proactive initiatives. He expressed hope that other counties would follow the positive examples set by Bong and Margibi counties, noting that such initiatives significantly enhance the Authority’s visibility and engagement with the public. “This is the way to go,” he stated.
