The Liberia National Police has refuted claims that its officers stormed the headquarters of STAND; the image is culled from video posted by Mulbah Morlue

MONROVIA- The Liberia National Police (LNP) has strongly rejected the misleading claims circulating on social media, alleging that police officers stormed or invaded STAND Headquarters on Saturday.

These accusations are entirely false and misrepresent the routine enforcement operations carried out by the police.

On Saturday, officers of the Liberia National Police were engaged in a scheduled motorbike enforcement operation in restricted areas.

This initiative, which has been consistently enforced, aims to regulate motorcycle movements in designated no-go zones to ensure public safety and compliance with existing laws.

During this enforcement action, officers observed a group of motorcyclists following a musician in the area. As per standard procedure, motorcycles found violating restricted zones were impounded. It is important to note that the presence of the police in the area was strictly due to this enforcement operation and had nothing to do with Mr. Mulbah Morlu or his organization.

At no point did police officers raid, storm, or invade any establishment, including STAND Headquarters. Even in the video posted by Mr. Morlu, police officers are visibly carrying out their lawful duties, with no evidence supporting his claims.

Additionally, this is not the first instance of misinformation being spread regarding the Liberia National Police. Mr. Morlu has repeatedly made baseless accusations, including false claims against Deputy Inspector General of Police Cllr. J. Nelson Freeman, alleging that he deliberately hit motorcyclists with his vehicle. He has also falsely claimed on public platforms, including the Spoon Talk Show, that police officers are trailing him with intent to harm him.

These repeated fabrications serve no purpose other than to mislead the public and undermine the integrity of the police force.

The Liberia National Police remains committed to enforcing the law with professionalism, integrity, and impartiality. We will not allow misinformation to erode public trust in law enforcement and will continue to fulfill our mandate of ensuring safety and order across Liberia.

We urge the media and the public to rely on verified information and credible sources when assessing police activities.

The Liberia National Police remains open to engagement for any clarifications regarding its operations.
