Opposition political party members: Senator Nathaniel McGill (left) and Representative Musa H. Bility, CMC Political Leader

MARSHALL, MARGIBI – In a bold speech during a graduation ceremony for training circles sponsored by Senator Nathaniel McGill, CMC Political Leader Musa Hassan Bility launched a scathing attack on President Joseph N. Boakai, claiming that the President has spent the past seven months undermining governance and manipulating the legislature to serve the interests of the Executive Branch.

Addressing a crowd of young graduates, Bility argued that Boakai’s Administration has effectively turned the Legislature into a “puppet” of the presidency. He specifically referenced the recent arrest of the former Speaker of the House and others connected to an arson attack on the Capitol, stating, “This wrongful imprisonment reflects a broader pattern of political repression under Boakai’s rule.”

Bility took particular aim at the financial governance of the Boakai Administration, accusing the President of neglecting crucial investigations into the disappearance of millions of U.S. dollars linked to illegal budget passages. He lamented that these missing funds could have significantly advanced educational initiatives in the region, questioning the administration’s priorities as it allegedly focuses on silencing political opponents rather than addressing severe budgetary misconduct.

“The education of our youth should not be sacrificed for political gamesmanship,” Bility asserted. “Instead of seeking accountability, the president pursues his opponents with the ferocity of a hunter stalking prey.”

Bility’s remarks come at a critical moment as the opposition grapples with the implications of Boakai’s leadership. He urged fellow political figures to remain vigilant against the ruling party’s perceived machinations. “They’ve removed a sitting Speaker, and now they’ve arrested him.

They may be plotting against you next,” Bility warned, rallying his peers to stand firm against potential political persecutions.

In a moment of solidarity and hope, despite the overarching tension in the political climate, Bility praised Senator McGill, former First Lady Clar M. Weah, and Mr. Sekou Kalasco Demarro for their commitment to youth empowerment, remarking that they are providing a much-needed light in challenging times.

He announced a donation of 10 computers and scholarships for a hundred students for the upcoming school year, emphasizing his commitment to investing in the future generation and fostering educational opportunities, even amid political turmoil.

The charges and allegations made by Bility have raised eyebrows, and observers are calling for transparency and accountability from the Boakai administration.

As tensions rise, the future political landscape of Liberia remains uncertain, with the opposition left to navigate an increasingly hostile environment. The coming weeks will be crucial in determining how these developments unfold in Monrovia.
