MONROVIA – As a way of further enhancing the logistical capacity of the Ministry of Public Works to provide adequate supervision on the construction of the Cavalla River bridge linking Liberia to La Cote D’Ivoire, the ECOWAS Mission in Liberia has made a donation of a 2024 Toyota Hilux Double Cabin Pickup to the Ministry through the Project Implementation Unit of the African Development Bank.
The project, which is designed to enhance regional integration particular between the two West African states, has begun on the Liberian shores with construction of the abutments of the bridge. When completed, it is expected to eliminate trade barrier and create ease of travels between Liberia and Ivory Coast.

Presenting the vehicle on behalf of the ECOWAS MISSION, Amb. Josephine Nkrumah expressed concerns about the Ministry’s logistical capacity to provide supervision during the course of the project. “For actual work to go on, the logistical aspect of it is equally important, and so ECOWAS has donated this vehicle to the Ministry of Public Works to enhance their work, to enhance supervision; and we hope that this will be used to prudence to further the agenda of integration within the ECOWAS region.”

Assistant Minister for Planning and Research Abraham Rahim Bility conveyed appreciation to ECOWAS on behalf of the Government of Liberia, adding that the Cavalla Bridge project is very key to Liberia’s economic growth and the social integration of the both peoples. Assistant Minister Bility assured Amb. Nkrumah that the vehicle will be used for the intended purpose. “We want to assure you that the vehicle will be used for the very purpose for which it was donated, and that the scope of work, as designed, will be implemented by our contractor.”
The vehicle was further turned over to the Project Implementation Unit of the African Development Bank, and was received by its Program Manager Rawlings Baco Kesselly.
