Rep. Neiker Gaye and delegation in Guinea for preparation of Mano River Union Legisatuve engagement

MONROVIA- A legislative delegation from the House of Representatives of Liberia, headed by the Chair of the House’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Rep. Nehker Gaye of Nimba County Electoral District #3, is currently in the Republic of Guinea for a high-level working session.

According to the House Press and Public Affairs, the mission is focused on setting the agenda for the upcoming Mano River Union (MRU) Speakersโ€™ Meeting, to be held in Monrovia later this month.

This working session aims to develop a statute and framework document that will guide the formation of the Mano River Union Parliamentary Network. This critical initiative is designed to foster inter-parliamentary cooperation and coordination among the MRU member statesโ€”Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Cรดte d’Ivoire.

The official launch of the MRU Parliamentary Network is scheduled to take place in Monrovia this July. During the launch, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Liberia, Mr. Richard Nagbe Koon, will receive his counterpartsโ€”the Speakers of Parliament from Cรดte d’Ivoire, Guinea, and Sierra Leone.

This historic event underscores Liberiaโ€™s leadership role within the Mano River Union and reaffirms the countryโ€™s commitment to strengthening regional collaboration through legislative diplomacy.

The upcoming network is expected to enhance legislative dialogue, promote peace and security, and support sustainable development across MRU member states.
