MONROVIA – The House of Representatives Joint Committee on Education, Public Administration, and Judiciary has officially submitted its report on the proposed bill by Representative Robert Flomo Womba, which seeks to elevate the Bong Technical College to full university status.

The Act when passed will have to be concurred with by the Liberian Senate.

During an exclusive interview, Representative Womba expressed optimism regarding the bill’s passage through the plenary session today. He emphasized the significance of this legislation, which he believes will not only enhance educational opportunities in Bong County but will also promote economic development in the region.

“The elevation of Bong Technical College to university status is more than just a title change; it’s an investment in our future. This act represents a crucial step toward improving education access and quality for our students. The community stands to gain immensely, both educationally and economically,” Womba stated.

He further articulated the potential benefits that expanding educational infrastructure would bring to Bong County and its surrounding areas, highlighting the role it could play in shaping a more skilled workforce and stimulating local economies.

As discussions are set to commence in the HOR’s Plenary, Rep. Womba urged his colleagues to conduct thorough due diligence in their deliberations. “I hope that by the end of this process, the Senate will see the value in this initiative and will pass it on to the President for signature, turning our vision into a reality,” he added.
