Gabrielle Sabina Lines began her football journey at Hippo FC in the Liberia Football Association (LFA) Lower Womenโs League, where she quickly emerged as a standout talent. As a teenager, she took the league by storm netting 18 goals and providing 8 assists in just 12 matches, earning her the top scorer title for the season.
At just 17 years old, Gabrielle played primarily as a winger but was capable of filling any position in the attacking line.
Her versatility, sharp football IQ, and relentless work ethic made her an invaluable asset: the kind of player every coach dreams of. Yet, despite her impressive statistics and on-field impact, Gabrielle was repeatedly overlooked for national team call-ups, even during Liberiaโs preparations for a high-profile encounter with Sierra Leone in March.
Only two players from Determined Girls: Striker Mabinty Camara (33 goals) and Ravia Angels: Makasian Saryon (25 goals) scored more goals than Gabrielle in the LFA’s top two womenโs divisions that year, a remarkable feat for a player in the lower league.
But numbers were just part of Gabrielleโs story. She became known for her electric pace, incredible dribbling skills, and an almost instinctive vision for goal.

She led Hippo FC to critical victories, including a commanding 2โ0 win over United Girls, where she scored both goals.
Her dedication never wavered. Gabrielle ended the season with 19 goals and 9 assists in 15 matches across all competitions. That made her not only the top scorer in the Lower Womenโs League but also the second-highest goal contributor across the top two divisions only behind Saryon of Ravia Angels.
Her consistent performance, despite national oversight, caught public attention. After several advocacy efforts, including letters and reports from Hippo FC president Dr. Syrulwa Somah, Gabrielle was finally called up to the Liberia U20 Womenโs National Team at age 18.
In the 2024/2025 season, she joined Republic FC and played a key role in helping the club win the LFA Lower Womenโs League Championship. In 18 matches, she added 8 more goals to her growing legacy.

Gabrielle wasnโt just a goal scorer. She was a silent leader, a beacon of hope for young girls in Liberia who dream of playing the beautiful game. She did not need the spotlight her game spoke for itself.
May her legacy live on in every girl who dares to dream beyond the barriers.
May her memory forever inspire others.
“Though she spoke softly, her game roared. Gabrielle Lines โ remembered always.”
