MONROVIA – The Vanguard Students Unification Party (SUP), the University of Liberia-based political party, has followed in the footsteps of its mother organization, the Liberia National Student Union (LINSU) to categorically reject the STAND’s ‘Enough is Enough’ protest.
“Comrades, revolutionary militants, progressive journalists, solidarity forces, civil servants, civil society organizations, tricycle unions, street vendors, the masses of our people, conscious university students, we bring you greetings from the Vanguard Student Unification Party!
The Vanguard Student Unification Party stands tall as the citadel of hope for the downtrodden marginalized masses as well as the unwavering defender of social justice, academic freedom, and peace. SUP categorically distances herself from this July 17, protest organized by STAND under the theme “enough is enough”. SUP believes a mass-based movement or protest despite its genuine concerns must be forged in the crucible of ideological clarity as well as guided by a disciplined, mass-critical direction not influenced by selfish naked interest.
However, SUP calls on the government of Liberia led by Mr. Boakai, and its untested gangsters police force under Gregory Coleman to exercise the utmost restraint and professionalism, for the sacred right to protest, as enshrined in Article 17 of the 1986 Constitution of Liberia. Tomorrow, the people will take to the streets to demand fundamental social, political, and economic transformation which the Boakai-Koung government is bereft of!
SUP demands that the government not only protect the sacred right to protest but also embrace its duty to listen to the grievances of the masses. The concerns of the people to express their dissent against oppression, neglect, and systemic failure are not just noise to be silenced. As we distance ourselves from tomorrow’s protest action against this government, we’re not unaware that the Boakai administration is engulfed with corruption, dictatorship, crackdown on peaceful students, and failure to deliver on promises made to the Liberian people.
Conclusively, SUP will always stand in solidarity with the spirit of resistance, with the masses who genuinely demand the basic necessities of life against a system led by Mr. Boakai that continues to ignore the suffering of the people!
Long Live SUP!
Done and issued on this 16th day of July A.D. 2025 by the mandate of the 33rd Politburo and Central Committee of the Vanguard Party.
