MONROVIA – Speaking in an exclusive interview on July 19, 2025, at Tusa Field Sports Pitch after a thrilling 2–1 comeback victory over District #16, Coach Samir Kamara shared his pride and passion for both the game and his community.
“I am proud of my team and myself today. Leaving my home District #11 to coach District #13 might seem unusual to some, but as a coach and ultimately, as a social worker you have to step out of your comfort zone to face new challenges.”
Coach Kamara made a strong return to the District League, bringing with him a deep sense of purpose and a personal coaching philosophy rooted in resilience and community service.
“I bring my own personal philosophy to the game. The last time I coached in the District League, I won the championship. Now, I am back to defend my title after taking a year off. I want to assure the people of District #13 that this year, I am determined to bring home the trophy once again.”
For Kamara, coaching District #13 is more than just a professional assignment it’s a heartfelt homecoming.
“Being part of District #13 makes me feel at home. I was schooled here, graduated from St. Michael Catholic High School, and I live in this district. It’s a special place for me, and coaching here means a lot.”
Reflecting on the match, Kamara highlighted his familiarity with District #16 and the tactical intelligence that led to the win.
“It’s not the first time I’ve faced District #16. In our last encounter, they were leading 1–0, but my team came from behind to win in penalties and claim the trophy with District #11.
Today, coming back to secure a win after being down at halftime was a strategic effort. We regrouped at the break and made the necessary adjustments to turn the game around and secure the victory.” As Kamara sets his sights on another championship, District #13 supporters can look forward to a season led by a coach who not only knows the game but also knows and loves the community he now calls home.
