
GANTA, NIMBA COUNTY – The event was marked by a significant address from Honorable Jeremiah Kpan Koung, Sr., Vice President of the Republic of Liberia, who represented President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., at the ceremony.
In his remarks, Vice President Koung expressed the government’s deep commitment to improving access to quality education for all Liberian children. Although President Boakai was unable to attend due to other national engagements.

He extended his heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to all those involved in bringing the new school to fruition.
“This school is not just a building; it is a beacon of hope and opportunity for the students of Gompa and the surrounding communities,” Koung stated.
He emphasized the vital role of education in national development and highlighted the need for equitable access to educational resources.

The new education facility, funded by a generous investment of approximately US$47 million from the International Development Association of the World Bank Group, boasts impressive amenities.
It includes 15 classrooms, science laboratories, a computer lab, a library, and various recreational facilities such as sports courts and a football field. In total, the institution is set to serve around 1,000 students, with a particular focus on empowering girls and ensuring their successful transition to secondary education.

Koung also underscored the government’s initiatives to enhance the quality of education, mentioning revamped teacher training curricula and the promotion of modern teaching methods.
He encouraged teachers to embrace their roles as mentors and leaders in shaping the futures of their students, while calling on students to take advantage of the opportunities before them.
The dedication program concluded with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the opening of the doors to this new institution.

Community leaders, educators, and students alike celebrated this milestone as a step toward a more educated and prosperous Liberia.
Vice President Koung extended his appreciation to all stakeholders involved in the project, particularly the Honorable Minister of Education, Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah, and the World Bank for their significant contributions. As Gompa City welcomes its new senior secondary school, the community stands united in hope for a brighter future, where every child’s potential is nurtured, and their dreams can be realized.
