Dr. Ibrahim Al-bakri Nyei, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Cooperation and Economic Integration

MONROVIA – The Liberian government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Kingdom of Morocco on the occasion of the 26th Anniversary of the Throne Day of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, celebrated on July 30, 2025.

Speaking on behalf of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., and the Government of Liberia, Dr. Ibrahim Al-bakri Nyei, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Cooperation and Economic Integration, hailed the transformative leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, crediting his 26-year reign for advancing inclusive development, regional cooperation, modernization and continental diplomacy.

In the goodwill message at a commemorative event organized by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Monrovia, Deputy Minister Nyei reaffirmed Liberia’s strong support for continental cooperation frameworks, particularly the African Atlantic States Process and the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline Project, which it sees as instrumental to regional synergy, economic development, and strategic alignment with key continental initiatives such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD).

Deputy Minister Nyei highlighted the longstanding and fruitful bilateral relationship between Liberia and Morocco, characterized by technical cooperation, educational exchange, agricultural development, and institutional support acknowledging Morocco’s significant contributions to Liberia’s development in the sectors of healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, and renewable energy, noting that these efforts exemplify a partnership rooted in action and solidarity.

The statement also referenced the successful Third Session of the Liberia-Morocco Joint Commission of Cooperation, held on January 17, 2025, in Laayoune, Morocco. Co-chaired by Liberia’s Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti and Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, the session concluded with the signing of 15 bilateral agreements focused on priority sectors.

Following the Commission meeting, Liberia participated in a Special Economic Promotion Week in Morocco from January 27–31, 2025, which facilitated valuable engagements between Liberian officials, businesses, and their Moroccan counterparts.

In a reciprocal move, Liberia is set to host a high-level Moroccan delegation in October 2025 to explore investment opportunities across diverse sectors of the Liberian economy.
