Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency was also a part of the march against drugs

Today, Thursday, August 7, the long-awaited Citizens’ Call to Action under the “Say No To Drugs” awareness campaign and petition initiative, according to organisers, is aimed at rallying citizens to petition their lawmakers at the Capitol, calling for stronger actions against the rising wave of illicit drug activities in Liberia. A key demand of the campaign is increased budgetary allocation for the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) to fight drugs effectively and more robust measures under the law on traffickers to save Liberia’s youthful population victims

The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), under the leadership of Hon. Antony K. Souh, had earlier affirmed—and reaffirmed—its commitment to supporting this important awareness campaign.

That commitment was clearly demonstrated through the presence of LDEA officers in today’s march. The Agency extends its appreciation to the organisers for recognizing and including the needs of the LDEA in their petition. The LDEA further encourages all Liberians to stand united in this ongoing fight, not just on the petition day, but continuously.

Representing a wide cross-section of society, members of the public—including the Women’s Association of DEA (DEAWA), its leadership, and members; Prevention Boss Ma’am Grace Mulbah; and delegates from the Leeaward Counties led by Chief Ma’am Precious Rue—joined the march alongside various senior and junior officers from across the LDEA. Participants passionately chanted anti-drug messages, reaffirming their collective stand against illicit drugs in Liberia.

The public is strongly urged to report any drug-related activities by calling the LDEA Hotline at 0777-133-333.
