
PAYNESVILLE โ In a demonstration of support, J. Maxwell Binda, the City Manager of Paynesville, represented Mayor Robert S. Bestman II at the recent Gender and Social Inclusion Unit (GSIU) orientation meeting held over the weekend.
The event marked a pivotal step toward strengthening the cityโs commitment to gender equality and social inclusion.
During the meeting, Mr. Binda expressed the management unwavering support for the initiatives of the GSIU, emphasizing the importance of the unit in fostering an inclusive and equitable community.
Mr. Binda encouraged the GSIU staff to work diligently towards enhancing the effectiveness and impact of the GSIU, ensuring that gender and social inclusion remain priority areas in our development agenda.

Margaret W. Solo, the Gender Officer and acting head of the unit, delivered a comprehensive overview of the GSIUโs current activities, goals, and future plans.
Mrs. Soloโs presentation highlighted ongoing initiatives aimed at promoting gender equity, social justice, and community participation, alongside strategies for addressing challenges faced by marginalized groups.
A presentation on the importance of having a GSIU at the Paynesville City Corporation was delivered by Lawodo Thomas-Nimely and Anthony N. Borlay, Directors of the Gender & Social Inclusion Unit and Policy, respectively, at the Ministry of Gender and Social Protection.
The event underscores Paynesvilleโs proactive approach in integrating gender and social inclusion into its development policies. With leadership firmly backing the GSIU, the city is poised to make significant strides toward creating a more inclusive society for all residents.
