MONROVIA – The National Students Command of Liberia (NASCOL) has issued a pressing ultimatum to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), demanding the release of the 2024-2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results within two weeks.
This announcement comes following WAEC’s recent decision to postpone the release of the results, leaving students, parents, and educators in a state of uncertainty.
In a press conference held in Gardnersville Township, NASCOL expressed deep concern over the lack of a specific release date for the WASSCE results, which are essential for students’ future educational and career planning.
“The postponement is unacceptable,” stated Octavious Bensayda James, Secretary General of NASCOL. “Students deserve timely access to their results so they can make informed decisions about their futures.”
The student organization has given WAEC a deadline of August 28, 2025, to provide clear and definitive results. NASCOL emphasized that this timeframe should be sufficient for WAEC to resolve any technical issues that may be causing the delay.

During the conference, NASCOL reiterated claims made in previous statements regarding inconsistencies in WAEC’s handling of results, citing instances from the past academic year that raised questions about the integrity of the examination body.
“The unnecessary delays and poor communication from WAEC confirm our stance that they have been inconsistent and sluggish in their processes,” James added.
NASCOL’s key demands include: Regular updates on the result release process to keep students informed commitment from WAEC to adhere to the new timeline for releasing Assistance for students and educators adversely affected by the delays.
NASCOL warned that failure to meet these demands would lead to a direct visit to WAEC’s headquarters, which they described as a necessary step to ensure the students’ voices are heard. “We will not allow our students to be subjected to any malpractices. We are ready to take a stand,” proclaimed James.
The call for action by NASCOL highlights the significant tensions surrounding the management of educational assessments within Liberia, underscoring the need for accountability from institutions that play a crucial role in shaping the future of the country’s youth.
As the deadline approaches, all eyes will be on WAEC to see how they respond to the demands of Liberia’s student body.
