MONROVIA – In a spirited effort to combat drugs-related issues, residents in the Chicken Soup Factory area came together on Saturday afternoon, launching a major initiative to search homes, dismantle local drug havens, and raise awareness about the dangers of illicit substances.
This proactive campaign is part of a broader movement following the “Say No to Drugs” advocacy launched on August 7, 2025.
Support for this initiative has been strong, with neighboring communities in Districts #13 and #8 joining the cause to create safer environments for their residents.
The efforts have received backing from the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), highlighting a united front against drug abuse.

During Saturday’s operations in Chicken Soup Factory, eight individuals were apprehended and taken into custody by the LDEA, marking a significant response to the community’s concern over drug-related activities.
Simultaneously, the citizens of the Peace Island Community in District #10, Montserrado County, took similar decisive action against drug users.

Partnering with the Liberia National Police, the community leadership conducted raids on known ghetto sites, resulting in the arrest of approximately 10 suspected drug users.
In a bold display of commitment, the community even burned down a major ghetto site to send a clear message against drug use.

The residents of Peace Island have vowed to conduct weekly raids until their community is free from the grip of drugs, reflecting a tireless determination to protect their neighborhoods from the adverse effects of substance abuse.
As these community-led campaigns continue to unfold, they underline the importance of collective action and vigilance in the fight against illicit drugs, fostering safer and healthier environments for all residents.
