Liberia on Thursday, September 4, joined the global Tae Kwon Do community in celebrating World Tae Kwon Do Day, with the President of the Liberia Tae Kwon Do Federation, Master Junior Pewee Russian, paying tribute to the pioneers who laid the foundation of the martial art in the country.

In a special message, Master Russian honored the late Grand Master Zuzu Martin, recognized as the father of Tae Kwon Do in Liberia, along with the many Masters and instructors who have preserved and advanced the art over the years.

“Tae Kwon Do is more than just a sport—it is a way of life that instills discipline, respect, perseverance, and unity in its practitioners,” he emphasized.

Special thanks were also directed to international leaders in the Tae Kwon Do movement: the President of the African Tae Kwon Do Union, the President of World Tae Kwon Do, and the President of the Global Traditional Tae Kwon Do Federation, whose leadership he praised as vital to the sport’s global growth.

“Together, we continue to build a legacy of strength, unity, and excellence,” Master Russian concluded.

World Tae Kwon Do Day is marked annually on September 4 to celebrate the founding of the sport and to honor the values of peace, respect, and global solidarity it represents.
