D-Flow Flomo and Nimba County Superintendent breaking grounds for the expansion of LBS in that part of the country

SACLAPEA, NIMBA CO. – The Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) over the weekend broke ground for a new regional broadcasting facility in Nimba County, marking what officials describe as a “historic expansion” of state-owned radio and television services beyond Monrovia.

The ceremony, held in Saclapea, was attended by Vice President Jeremiah Kpah Koung, members of the Nimba County Legislative Caucus, local authorities, media representatives, and community members.

Delivering remarks on behalf of LBS Director General Eugene L. Fahngon, who is currently on an official visit to the People’s Republic of China, Deputy Director General D-Flow Flomo described the occasion as a major milestone in ensuring equitable access to information across Liberia.

“Let it be known that Liberia is not Montserrado alone, nor just a few counties; it is made up of fifteen vibrant counties, each deserving equal access to information,” Flomo said.

According to Flomo, the initiative is part of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s broader vision to decentralize public services and strengthen democratic engagement across all 15 counties.

“As we gather here, we do so in fulfillment of the President’s vision to expand radio and television access across all fifteen subdivisions of our beloved country,” he added.

Nimba and Grand Cape Mount Counties have been chosen as the first beneficiaries of the expansion project. The new broadcasting infrastructure is expected to increase local content production, improve news access in rural areas, and enhance the capacity of LBS to serve as a national public broadcaster.

“Today is indeed a great day for the people of this great county,” Flomo noted. “Under the leadership of President Boakai and Vice President Koung, we have made meaningful progress in strengthening Liberia — and together, we are changing the dynamics to build a brighter, and more resilient future.”

The ceremony also brought together local chiefs, elders, and representatives from Success Construction, the contractor undertaking the project.

In closing, Flomo declared:

“LBS will never be the same. Nimba will never be the same. Think Liberia, Love Liberia, and Together, Build Liberia.”

The project reflects a growing push by the Boakai administration to promote national unity, civic awareness, and transparency through improved access to public broadcasting services, especially in previously underserved regions.
