Businessman turned politician Simeon Freean interacting with residents of Chicken Soup Factory Community

MONROVIA – Simeon Freeman, political leader of the Movement for Progressive Change (MPC), over the weekend engaged residents and marketers of the Chicken Soup Factory community, where he delivered a blistering critique of Liberia’s current leadership and the role citizens play in shaping the country’s destiny.

Speaking frankly to residents, Freeman argued that Liberia’s challenges cannot be solved by communities trapped in poverty. “Poor people cannot take care of poor people. Give the country to people who can run it properly,” he declared, drawing mixed reactions from the crowd.

Freeman did not shy away from criticizing the community itself, particularly market women, for the leadership choices he said have worsened the nation’s struggles. He stressed that Liberia’s problems are rooted not just in governance failures but also in citizens repeatedly electing leaders without vision or practical plans.

The MPC leader singled out President Joseph Boakai’s administration, accusing it of failing the Liberian people less than two years into its tenure. “This government has failed the Liberian people,” he asserted, calling for greater accountability from both leaders and voters.

Freeman reminded citizens of the power of their vote, emphasizing that leadership decisions at the polls determine the direction of the nation for six years at a time. “You know who to vote for,” he said. “Your choices will govern you for the entire term.” Known for his nationwide political outreach, Freeman has consistently positioned himself as a vocal critic of successive governments, pushing for what he describes as “responsible governance” capable of delivering opportunities and services for all Liberians.
