Reporters Association of Liberia

The Reporters Association of Liberia (RAL) is urging all journalists, media professionals, and advocates of press freedom to actively participate in the 2025 World Press Freedom Day celebration, scheduled for Saturday, May 3, 2025, in Monrovia.

This year’s celebration is being held under the global theme: “Sustaining Independent Journalism and Press Freedom in the Digital Age.”

The day will begin with a parade assembling at 9:00 A.M. at the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) Headquarters on Clay Street.

Participants will march through the principal streets of Monrovia and conclude at the Monrovia City Hall, where an indoor program will be held.

The indoor ceremony will feature keynote speeches from prominent voices across the media, government, civil society, and international organizations.

In addition, there will be engaging panel discussions exploring the challenges and opportunities for independent journalism in the ever evolving digital landscape.

The Reporters Association of Liberia calls on all its members and media practitioners nationwide to attend in large numbers, dressed in appropriate press identification, to showcase unity, professionalism, and a shared commitment to the pivotal role of the media in upholding democracy in Liberia.

As we commemorate this significant day, RAL encourages all stakeholders to reaffirm their dedication to press freedom, uphold the principles of ethical journalism, and continue advocating for the protection of journalists across all media platforms

This release is issued with the full approval of the leadership of the Reporters Association of Liberia.
