LFA wraps up Beginners Referees course

The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has successfully completed the first phase of its Regional Beginner’s Referees Course, training a new wave of aspiring match officials across the southeast.

Held in Maryland, River Gee, Grand Kru, and Grand Gedeh counties, the program brought together 166 participants eager to take their first steps into refereeing. Over several days, trainees received both theoretical and practical lessons aimed at equipping them with the fundamentals of officiating.

According to the LFA, this annual initiative is designed to identify, train, and recruit new referees, ultimately strengthening the quality and depth of the nation’s referee pool.

The second phase of the program is set to move northwest, with sessions scheduled for Grand Cape Mount and Gbarpolu counties. By expanding opportunities for grassroots training, the LFA hopes to ensure that every region of Liberia can contribute to and benefit from a stronger standard of officiating in local and national competitions.
