MONROIVA – A delegation of officers from the Liberia National Police (LNP) has departed for Kigali, Rwanda, to undergo specialized professional training as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the capacity and professionalism of the Liberian police force.

The announcement was made by LNP Inspector General Colonel Gregory O. W. Coleman in a Facebook post on Friday, where he extended best wishes to the departing officers and emphasized the importance of continuous professional development within the force.

“We wish our officers a safe flight as they depart for Kigali, Rwanda, to undergo specialized training,” Coleman wrote. “This is a proud moment for the Liberia National Police as we continue creating opportunities for our men and women to grow and strengthen their capacity.”

He added that the training program forms part of the LNP’s broader vision to build a competent, disciplined, and community-centered police force capable of effectively responding to modern security challenges.

The initiative reflects the growing security cooperation between Liberia and Rwanda, which has deepened in recent years through knowledge exchange and capacity-building programs. The partnership allows Liberian law enforcement officers to benefit from Rwanda’s internationally recognized policing model—one that emphasizes professionalism, discipline, and technological innovation.

Inspector General Coleman assured that similar training opportunities will continue for other officers, signaling a long-term commitment to reform and modernization within the LNP.

“This will certainly not be the last,” he noted. “Continuous efforts are being made to ensure more of our officers benefit from international training and exposure. Go make us proud and represent Liberia with honor and discipline.”

Over the past few years, the LNP has taken steps to rebuild public trust, enhance crime response, and improve accountability across its ranks. The latest training opportunity in Rwanda is expected to further equip officers with modern policing techniques in areas such as leadership, community engagement, cybercrime prevention, and operational management.

The officers’ departure comes at a time when Liberia continues to strengthen regional and international partnerships to improve internal security and law enforcement professionalism.
