Monrovia, Liberia – The World Foundation International Multipurpose Agriculture Cooperative (WFI-MAC) has announced the launch of its landmark national initiative, “Operation Feed the Nation, Liberia,” a transformative five-year campaign aimed at boosting food security, empowering local farmers, and reducing Liberia’s heavy reliance on food imports.
The announcement was made at a press conference held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the cooperative’s headquarters on Capitol Bye-Pass in Monrovia. WFI-MAC’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Lincoln Z. Cooper, said the campaign is fully aligned with President Joseph N. Boakai’s ARREST Agenda, which prioritizes Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism.
“We are not just launching a program,” Mr. Cooper declared. “We are launching a movement — a nationwide call to action to rescue our farmers and feed our nation.”
Under the banner “Rescue Farmers,” WFI-MAC brings together more than 52,500 active members across Liberia’s 15 counties. The cooperative works directly with vulnerable populations — including women, youth, and smallholder farmers — through land-access agreements and partnerships with rural communities.
The official public launch of Operation Feed the Nation, Liberia is scheduled for Wednesday, October 30, 2025, at the Monrovia City Hall. The ceremony is expected to draw high-level government officials, development partners, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives of farming cooperatives nationwide.

WFI-MAC has already begun outreach to international partners, including the World Bank, European Union, United Nations agencies, and private agribusiness investors, to mobilize multi-sectoral support for the ambitious initiative.
2025–2030: A Vision for Food Sovereignty
Anchored in a Five-Year Agricultural Operations and Development Plan (2025–2030), the campaign seeks to:
- Boost productivity through climate-smart technologies.
- Provide farmers with access to quality seeds, tools, and fertilizers.
- Expand local and regional market access.
- Establish agro-processing hubs in all 15 counties.
- Support vulnerable farmers with healthcare, housing, and microgrants.
- Strengthen cooperative governance to ensure accountability and sustainability.
As part of its long-term strategy, WFI-MAC also plans to conduct Liberia’s first nationwide agricultural data survey, creating a comprehensive farmer and food insecurity database to guide targeted interventions across the country.
“No Farmer Left Behind”: An Inclusive Mission
Speaking alongside Mr. Cooper, Dr. John Wulu, Chair of WFI-MAC’s Executive Board, reaffirmed the cooperative’s commitment to inclusivity and equity in agricultural development.
“Too many of our farmers have been left out, underserved, ignored, and forgotten,” Dr. Wulu said. “This initiative is about reaching every village, every town, and every farmer — no matter how remote. We will empower, rehabilitate, and support them.”

He noted that WFI-MAC’s motto — “God is Our Refuge and Strength” — serves as the moral foundation of its work. Beyond food production, Dr. Wulu outlined the initiative’s potential to:
- Create thousands of jobs through agro-industrial development.
- Boost national revenue through export of surplus produce.
- Empower youth and women with business and agricultural training.
- Strengthen partnerships with tribal and community leaders for long-term success.
Reducing Dependency, Restoring Pride
Liberia currently spends an estimated US$200 million annually on food imports. WFI-MAC’s Feed the Nation campaign seeks to reverse that trend by ramping up domestic production of rice, cassava, vegetables, poultry, and fish.
If successfully implemented, the five-year program — running from October 30, 2025, to October 30, 2030 — could serve as a model for agricultural revival and food sovereignty across West Africa.
“This is not just about farming,” Dr. Wulu concluded. “It’s about nation-building, empowerment, and survival. Agriculture must be the engine of Liberia’s economic growth — and that engine starts now.”
