BUCHANAN, Grand Bassa County – The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) has launched a Budget Disaggregation Training for local government officials and financial officers from the health and education sectors. The training runs from October 12–17, 2025.
Acting Finance Minister Anthony G. Myers described the initiative as a key step in transferring authority to local leadership, empowering county officials with the ability to monitor how ministries spend resources within their jurisdictions.

The government is also expanding the County Treasury system, increasing the number of treasuries from four to ten, ensuring all 15 counties will eventually have access to treasury services.
Minister Myers emphasized local procurement and economic empowerment, while Internal Affairs Minister Francis Sakila Nyumalin stressed professionalization of local government. Comptroller J. Elwood Nettey warned officials to be accountable, with scrutiny from the General Auditing Commission (GAC).
The training is a major step toward financial decentralization, aiming to strengthen governance and economic activity across Liberia.
