Deputy Information Minister Daniel Sando

Monrovia, Liberia – The Government of Liberia has announced plans to host the country’s first-ever Post-War National Infrastructure Conference, set to take place from December 8–12, 2025, in Ganta, Nimba County.

The landmark event aims to bring together national and international partners, technical experts, policymakers, civil society representatives, and academics to address Liberia’s long-standing infrastructure challenges and chart a path toward sustainable development.

Deputy Information Minister for Public Affairs Daniel Sando described the conference as a “strategic roundtable” designed to explore innovative solutions for Liberia’s long-term development agenda. “We will examine how resilient infrastructure can unlock economic, social, and environmental gains for Liberia,” Minister Sando said.

Liberia’s infrastructure has long struggled to keep pace with the country’s development needs, decades after the civil wars. Roads remain largely unpaved outside the capital, energy supply is unreliable, water and sanitation systems are insufficient, and modern communication networks are limited in many regions. These deficiencies continue to impede economic growth, restrict access to basic services, and undermine Liberia’s efforts to achieve sustainable development.

The conference will also align Liberia’s national priorities with continental and global frameworks, including Africa’s Agenda 2063, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development. By convening diverse stakeholders, the forum seeks to ensure that infrastructure planning is inclusive, forward-looking, and resilient to future shocks.

“This conference represents a pivotal moment in Liberia’s post-conflict recovery,” Minister Sando added. “It offers an opportunity to rethink infrastructure not just as a utility, but as a driver of growth, equity, and resilience for all Liberians.”

Organizers say the five-day conference will include plenary sessions, technical workshops, and collaborative dialogues aimed at generating actionable strategies for rebuilding and modernizing Liberia’s infrastructure systems.
