One of the 35 new buses that the National Transist Authority brought into the country

MONROVIA, Liberia — The National Transit Authority has received the first 35 of 60 vehicles being procured under a contract with ABK Motors Inc., a fleet renewal officials say will expand affordable, reliable public transport nationwide.

The NTA Board of Directors in January 2025 authorized management to finalize the deal for:

  • 35 brand‑new TATA mass‑transit buses (62‑seater)
  • 20 mini‑buses (18‑seater)
  • 5 heavy‑duty cargo trucks

The authority said the cargo‑handling trucks—being introduced for the first time in the NTA’s history—will broaden operations and support last‑mile logistics. Additional mini‑buses and trucks are expected in the coming months.

Officials framed the arrivals as a milestone in the government’s plan to modernize public transport, improve mobility and accessibility, and support economic growth across Liberia.
