
Monrovia – As USAID closes its offices in Liberia, the agency has donated several pieces of office equipment to the Office for the Establishment of War and Economic Crimes Court for Liberia.
The donation included a four wheel drive Toyota SUV, four desktop computers, a Laser Jet industrious printer, stationaries, and video/sill camera among others.

Presenting the items to OWECC-L Wednesday, May 7, USAID Chief of Party Steve Terravecchia, commended the Office for its dedication to advancing justice and accountability, particularly in the pursuit of redress for war and economic crimes.
He encouraged the Office to sustain its momentum in advancing legal frameworks and institutional readiness, noting that visible progress demonstrates a strong commitment to justice and enhances public trust in Liberia’s democratic institutions.

Terravecchia underscored the importance of continued progress toward establishing credible and independent courts to serve the interests of truth, reconciliation, and the rule of law.
Receiving the items, OWECC-L Executive Director, Dr. Cllr. Barbu expressed appreciation to USAID for its support toward strengthening Liberia’s justice system. He noted that the donation represents a meaningful step toward ensuring accountability, reinforcing the rule of law, and upholding human rights.

Dr. Barbu emphasized that such international partnerships are vital to advancing the country’s post-conflict recovery and transitional justice efforts.
The Executive Director expressed his sincere appreciation to the American people for their partnership and support and promised to use the donated items for the intended purpose.
