
– As PSC Supports AfDB Financed Road Projects
MONROVIA – The Ministry of Public Works on Thursday, November 20, 2025, hosted the Inaugural and Consultative Engagement, witnessing face-to-face interaction of Representatives from fourteen (14) line Ministries, Agencies and Corporations which form the MRU Programme Steering Committee (PSC).
Chaired statutorily by Public Works Minister Roland Layfette Giddings, the Meeting brought together different parastatals of Government whose overall responsibility is to set direction and provide support to the Mano River Road Development and Transport Facilitation Programme and the teams as intimated by the Minster during the start of the Meeting.
Presenting on the Role and Responsibility of the PSC, Deputy Programme Coordinator Tarlee Gonwokay amongst many things said that the Programme Steering Committee serves the strategic direction of the Programme, and ensures that the Programme contributes to the overall objectives and expected outcome as inscribed in the various Agreements signed by the Government of Liberia and the Financiers.

According to her, the Programme Steering Committee will also provide overall strategic leadership and guidance on the coordination of the projects, policies for implementation and project management.
She named the Ministry of Public Works (Chair), Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Mines and Energy, Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Gender and Children Protection, Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice as members of the PSC.
Others are: Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC), Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) and Liberia Land Authority (LLA). The Mano River Union Road Development and Transport Facilitation Programme is part of the African Development Bank’s special initiative in favor of the Mano River Union Countries – Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Ivory Coast-implemented within the southeastern and northwestern parts of Liberia to ensure regional connectivity.
