
MONROVIA – The National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) today dedicated its state-of-the-art National Public Health Emergency Operations Center (NPHEOC), a significant milestone in the country’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public health preparedness, coordination, and response.
The newly dedicated center will serve as a national hub for managing public health emergencies, enhancing rapid response, and reinforcing Liberia’s broader health security systems.
Speaking at the ceremony, NPHIL’s Interim Director-General, Dr. Sia Wata Carmanor, expressed deep gratitude to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) for its continuous support to Liberia’s public health initiatives. She assured the continental institution that the facility would be used effectively and efficiently to improve emergency preparedness and response across the country.

Also making remarks, Madam MacDella Cooper, Advisor to the President of Liberia, extended thanks and appreciation to Africa CDC on behalf of the President of Liberia, Joseph Nyumah Boakai, for the strategic investment. She reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to supporting the Africa CDC in achieving its mandate of safeguarding the health of the continent.
Proxying for the Minister of Health, Dr. Louise M. Kpoto, the Deputy Minister for Administration, Martha Morris, performed the official ribbon-cutting. She commended Africa CDC for the gesture and pledged the Ministry of Health’s continued collaboration with NPHIL to ensure a unified and strengthened approach to public health in Liberia.
The dedication of the NPHEOC marks a major step toward boosting Liberia’s capacity to effectively manage public health threats and safeguard the wellbeing of its citizens.
