Ambassador Emmet L. Dunn is Liberia's 178th Independence Day Orator

MONROVIA – In a prestigious announcement, Ambassador Emmett Lafayette Dunn has been designated as the Independence Day Orator for Liberia’s 178th Independence Day celebration on July 26, 2025. This appointment recognizes his extensive contributions to national development and global mission advocacy.

Ambassador Dunn currently serves as the Presidential Special Envoy for Partnership and Philanthropy in Liberia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he plays a crucial role in mobilizing international partnerships and philanthropic efforts to support the nation’s ARREST Agenda for National Development. His focus on health, education, infrastructure, and reconciliation reflects a deep commitment to the socio-economic revitalization of Liberia.

As the Executive Secretary and CEO of the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention, Ambassador Dunn has made history as the first non-U.S.-born leader of the nearly 130-year-old organization. Under his leadership, Lott Carey has expanded its reach to 14 countries, managing a multimillion-dollar budget and driving programs that empower communities through evangelism, advocacy, and humanitarian efforts.

With over three decades of experience in both ministry and international development, Dunn has established himself as a key figure in promoting youth leadership and peacebuilding. His work with the Baptist World Alliance saw him travel to more than 100 countries, advocating for global mission development.

He serves on numerous national and international committees, contributing to initiatives that include the reburial of former Presidents William R. Tolbert Jr. and Samuel K.
