MONROVIA – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday June 12, 2025, received a courtesy visit from an advance delegation of the African Union’s Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security (PAPS), along with Messengers of Peace-Liberia Inc. (MOP), led by Liberia’s Global Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) Expert, Gwendolyn Myers.

A Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ statement on Friday says, the visit marks the official commencement of the AU Pre-Assessment Mission to evaluate logistical and technical arrangements for the forthcoming Youth Strategy Forum on Peacebuilding and the Right to Development, scheduled to take place in Monrovia later this year.
Organized by Messengers of Peace in collaboration with the African Union through its Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development (PCRD) policy under the Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security, the forum will be accompanied by a Quick Impact Project that underscores the right to development as an essential pillar of sustainable peacebuilding.

The delegation was officially received by Deputy Minister for Legal Affairs, Cllr. Jeddi Armah and Assistant Minister/Chief of Staff, Saran Kaba Jones, who both reaffirmed the Ministry’s support for the mission.
Their engagement underscores Liberia’s active role in advancing the objectives of the AU-led assessment, fostering strong local civil society partnerships and deepening regional cooperation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs commends Messengers of Peace-Liberia Inc. for its exceptional coordination of this mission and reaffirms the Government’s commitment to empowering young people, promoting inclusive governance and advancing continental partnerships for peace and development.
