
The 2025/2026 National County Sports Meet kickball competition burst into life on opening day, as Grand Cape Mount, Grand Bassa, Margibi, and Nimba Counties all posted impressive victories across the groups.
In Group C, Grand Cape Mount County sent a strong message with a commanding 3–0 home-run win over Grand Gedeh County at the Doris Williams Stadium in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
After a cautious start that produced no runs in the first two innings, Coach Alphonsos Kekeh’s side found their rhythm, unleashing consecutive home runs in the remaining innings to seal a convincing triumph.
Still in Group C, host Grand Bassa County thrilled the home fans with a solid 3–1 home-run victory over Lofa County. The win handed Bassa a positive start to their campaign and kept momentum firmly on their side.
Group B action saw Margibi County grind out a 2–0 home-run victory over Bomi County in a disciplined performance, while tournament hosts Nimba County put on a dominant display, cruising past Sinoe County 3–0 to underline their title ambitions. In Group A, the opening kickball fixture ended in a stalemate, as host Maryland County and Grand Kru County battled to a scoreless draw in a tightly contested encounter on Saturday.
