
-New Ambassadors Signal Cooperation on Education, Climate Resilience, Trade, Aagriculture, and Cultural Exchange; Follows Credentials from Spain, Pakistan, the Philippines, Ghana, and Mali
MONROVIA — President Joseph Nyuma Boakai on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, received letters of credence from Berenice Owen-Jones, ambassador-designate of Australia, and Normal Ang Sanchez, ambassador-designate of Mexico, during a ceremony at the Executive Mansion, underscoring Liberia’s push to broaden partnerships under the Boakai administration.
The presentations came a day after the President accepted credentials from the ambassadors-designate of Spain, Pakistan, the Philippines, Ghana, and Mali—marking a week of intensified diplomatic engagement in Monrovia.

Owen-Jones said Australia is seeking to deepen cooperation with Liberia in education, governance, climate resilience, and sustainable development, adding that Canberra stands ready to strengthen ties and explore new avenues for collaboration.
Presenting his credentials, Ang Sanchez said Mexico aims to expand bilateral cooperation with Liberia with a focus on trade, agriculture, and cultural exchange. He described Liberia as an important partner in advancing South–South collaboration and shared development goals.

Welcoming both envoys, President Boakai praised Australia and Mexico for their longstanding friendship with Liberia and said he is optimistic their missions will further strengthen diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties. He highlighted his administration’s efforts to rebrand Liberia’s international image and build partnerships that support national growth and transformation.
Senior government officials and members of the diplomatic corps attended the ceremony.
