MONROVIA – The proposed act submitted by Representative Robert Flomo Womba aims to transform the existing Bong County Technical College (BCTC) into the Bong County University (BCU) of 2025.
This effort is part of a broader initiative to enhance higher education in the region and focus on the holistic development of individuals. By repealing the 2015 act that established BCTC, the new charter for BCU would likely allow for expanded academic programs, greater resources, and improved facilities to better serve the educational needs of students in Bong County.
The establishment of a university could also foster economic development in the region by providing higher education opportunities and skill development for the local population.
If approved, this initiative could significantly impact the educational landscape and contribute to the overall growth and advancement of the community.

In a formal communication to the House’s plenary on Thursday, May 22, 2025, Representative Womba said, “This Act in view of the location of Bong County in the central region of this country, which attracts young scholars from all walks of life seeking quality education in preparation for nation building.
