CAF Appoints Two Liberian Referees for Women’s AFCON Qualifier

Monrovia, Liberia – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Liberian referees Hannah L. Moses and Love T. Wehyee among the match officials for the upcoming 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between Tanzania and Ethiopia, scheduled for 22 October at the Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Moses will serve as Assistant Referee 1, while Wehyee has been named the Fourth Official. Sierra Leonean officials Aminata Fullah and Fatmata Mansaray have been designated as the Referee and Assistant Referee 2, respectively.

Both Moses and Wehyee recently officiated the FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup Qualifiers match between Rwanda and Nigeria in Kigali, Rwanda, showcasing their competence on the continental stage. Their appointment to the AFCON qualifiers reflects CAF’s growing confidence in Liberian referees and underscores the country’s emerging role in African women’s football.

A Growing Legacy for Liberian Referees

Liberia has steadily been producing referees capable of handling high-profile regional and continental fixtures, particularly in women’s football. The appointments of Moses and Wehyee demonstrate not only their individual professionalism and experience but also the impact of programs supported by the Liberia Football Association (LFA) and CAF to train, mentor, and certify referees to international standards.

CAF’s selection process for major qualifiers and tournaments emphasizes performance, consistency, and adherence to FIFA’s refereeing standards, making these appointments a notable milestone for Liberia’s football development. With the 2026 Women’s AFCON qualifiers drawing heightened attention as teams battle for continental glory, Moses and Wehyee will play a critical role in ensuring fair play, integrity, and professionalism on the pitch, further cementing Liberia’s growing reputation in African football officiating.
