MONROVIA – In a shocking revelation, Montserrado County Senator Saah H. Joseph has unveiled serious allegations concerning the administration of former President George Manneh Weah when he appeared on Liberia’s most provocative, popular night-time talkshow (Spoon Talk), Friday, August 8, night.
The lawmaker accused Weah and his associates of engaging in questionable dealings throughout their six-year term in office.
During the interview on Friday night, Senator Joseph claimed that the former President and his administration sought bribes from foreign investors interested in bringing their business ventures to Liberia.
He described these actions as part of a broader pattern of corruption that he asserts plagued the government and partly led to their defeat in the Presidential and General Elections.
Senator Joseph also recounted his personal experience, stating that he had not spoken to President Weah for four years during the latter’s term or the regime, a sign of the deepening rift that existed between the two men: one was President and the other was Chairman on Executive in the Liberian Senate.
His allegations did not stop there; he shared harrowing details about his party colleague, Mr. Mulbah Morlu, claiming that certain members of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) drugged Morlu and recorded him in compromising situations and issued threats against his life.
In a further escalation of accusations, Senator Joseph disclosed that his residence was set ablaze by purported members of the CDC in the lead-up to the recent elections, an act he characterized as intimidation and political violence from Weah.
The senator’s revelations have sparked outrage and concern among the public, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the allegations.
As Liberia continues to grapple with issues of governance and corruption, Senator Joseph’s statements may reignite discussions about accountability and transparency in the nation’s political landscape.
The Senator’s appeareance on the show was triggered by former Representative Acarous Moses Gray. Gray, a regular panealist of the show and a very staunch “Weahcian” or diehard supporter of Weah, had said some nasty things about the Senator. So, the Senator, who is on a business trip in the US, came on live via phone, to give his side of the story. As we say in Liberia: “You haul rope, rope will haul bush and bush will haul forest.” This is the situation that Weah, CDC and other staunch CDCians now face.
