Liberia’s reigning Women’s Basketball Champions, Commissioners, have withdrawn from the 2025/2026 FIBA Africa Inter-Clubs Women’s Championship, citing financial and logistical challenges.
In a formal communication to FIBA Africa Zone 3, led by Col. Samuel Ahmedu (Rtd.), the club expressed regret over their inability to participate this year but assured their commitment to future editions of the continental tournament.
Despite their withdrawal, Commissioners remain a dominant force on the home front. Earlier this month, they secured the 2025 National Basketball Championship title after sweeping D-Rockas in straight sets (3–0) during the Best-of-Five finals at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Gymnasium in Paynesville. This latest triumph reaffirms Commissioners’ continued supremacy in the Liberian Basketball Association (LBA) Women’s League, maintaining their status as the leading women’s basketball team in the country.
