Magistrate Ben Barco has banned these five lawmakers from leaving the country until as such time

MONROVIA – The Monrovia City Court has imposed a travel ban on former House Speaker Cllr. Jonathan Fonati Koffa, along with four sitting lawmakers, barring them from leaving the country following criminal charges filed by the Liberia National Police.

The five lawmakers, including Representatives Koffa, Abu Kamara, Dixon Seboe, Jacob Debee, and Prescilla Cooper are facing prosecution in connection with the alleged burning of the Capitol Building.

The court’s decision to restrict their movement was issued over the weekend by Magistrate Ben Barco, who granted a Writ of Ne Exeat Republica following a formal request from state prosecutors. The writ mandates that all security agencies stationed at Liberia’s ports of entry prevent the accused lawmakers from traveling abroad.

According to our Judicial Correspondent, the travel ban was enforced shortly after the five legislators were charged with multiple offenses, including arson, criminal conspiracy, and criminal facilitation.

State security agencies have been instructed to arrest the lawmakers if they are seen attempting to leave the country while the charges are pending.
