Comfort K. Toe Orphanage in Christopolis Community, Brewerville City

BREWERVILLE CITY – Though the New Year’s sun did not shine as brightly as on previous January 1 celebrations, it radiated an aura of belief, love, and care for the 43 orphans of the Comfort K. Toe Orphanage in Christopolis Community, Brewerville City, Montserrado County.

As a convoy carrying assorted food and non-food items from the Family Union Organization quietly drove into the orphanage compound, the children—mostly between the ages of 6 and 15—burst into song. Their voices echoed a heartfelt welcome for the Family Union (FU) team as they arrived at the brightly painted pink facility.

Family Union, a social welfare organization established in 2022, chose to usher in the New Year by spending the day with the children and presenting them with essential supplies.

Speaking during the presentation, FU Chairman Tialah M. Toby  said the organization had come to share the beauty of the New Year with the children by bringing items meant to support their daily needs.

Secretary General of the organization and member of the Family Union Program Committee, Marlene Tokpa  explained that the orphanage was selected after careful scrutiny.

“That is why we are here, to play games, share joy, and also present nicely prepared snacks and Family Union–branded juices,” Tokpa said, drawing loud cheers from the children.

Items donated to the Comfort K. Toe Orphanage included ten bags of rice, one bag of flour, cartons of copybooks, a 100-pound bag of cornmeal, cartons of soap, a 100-pound bag of sugar, detergents, 25 kilograms of pinto beans, Argo oil, cartons of wheat, and a bag of footwear.

Presenting the items on behalf of the organization, Family Union Vice Chairman Nyantee Jeh  emphasized the group’s commitment to humanitarian service.

“We have come to identify with you. These children are part of us. We consider them the future of Liberia,” Jeh said.

Adding color to the event, Mrs. Olivia D. White , a member of the FU Advisory Committee, led recreational activities including riddles and musical chair competitions, leaving smiles written across the faces of the children.

Receiving the donation, Director of the Comfort K. Toe Orphanage, Stanley Weefar, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Family Union, describing the gesture as deeply touching.

“You have touched our hearts with joy. We are entering the New Year with happiness and blessings,” Weefar said.

He disclosed that the orphanage was constructed in the early 2000s by Irish Peacekeepers in Liberia.

“Just like the peacekeepers, you have brought us peace and joy during this holiday,” he added.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, 12-year-old Konah Johnson thanked Family Union and prayed for God’s continued blessings upon the organization.

The donation further underscores Family Union’s growing reputation as a trailblazing humanitarian organization in the Brewerville Community. In previous years, the organization partnered with the JFK Medical Center Eye Clinic to conduct free eye testing for residents of the Christian Community and surrounding neighborhoods in the Parker Corner area of Brewerville.
