FC Fassell have been drawn against MC Alger in the preliminary round of the 2025/2026 CAF Champions League following the official draw held on 9 August in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The Soccer Missionaries will host the first leg on 21 September at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville, before traveling for the return leg at the Stade Ali-Ammar in Algiers on 26 September.
This will mark the first-ever meeting between the two sides, although MC Alger are no strangers to Liberian opposition. They eliminated Watanga FC in the 2024/2025 edition, winning 4-0 on aggregate.
In a strange twist last season, Watanga waived their rights to host both legs in Liberia, instead agreeing to play both matches in Algeria — losing 2-0 at the Nelson Mandela Stadium on 18 August 2024 and 2-0 again at the Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in Blida on 22 August 2024.
Fassell are expected to pose a tougher challenge, having strengthened their squad with several key signings: Ivorian goalkeeper Ibrahim Coulibaly, Gambian central defender Louise Jatta, Moroccan right back Ayoub Al Kouaye, midfielder Abdoulaye Sy, and Senegalese utility player Ndene Cisse, who can feature as a midfielder, winger, or striker.
The team will be led by Bosnian-Australian coach Amir Alagic, who holds a UEFA Pro License, alongside a Moroccan physical trainer.
