The FIBA U‑16 AfroBasket Zone 3 Qualifiers will be hosted in Liberia from July 10 to July 17, 2025, marking a major milestone for the country’s sports landscape. The tournament will be held at the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) Gymnasium in Paynesville City, featuring both male and female U-16 national teams.
According to FIBA’s official announcement, five West African countries will participate:
Liberia (Host), Benin, Burkina Faso, Togo and Côte d’Ivoire
Each nation will field both a boys’ and a girls’ team, bringing the total number of teams to 10.
The qualifiers act as a gateway to the continental FIBA U‑16 AfroBasket Championship, offering young athletes a chance to compete at a higher level and gain international experience. The event is expected to bolster youth basketball development in Zone 3, which encompasses the participating nations.
Hosting the event presents Liberia with a unique opportunity to ignite local enthusiasm for basketball, attract investment in sports infrastructure, and foster a sense of regional unity and sportsmanship
