MONROVIA, Liberia – Family sources have confirmed to The Liberian Post that former Montserrado County District #7 Representative, Hon. Solomon Cladius George, has died. He was 70 years old.
According to relatives, the former lawmaker reportedly suffered a heart attack. His passing has triggered an outpouring of condolences across the political spectrum, with many Liberians expressing shock at the sudden loss.
George, a founding member of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), was widely known for his outspoken political style and firm positions on national issues. During his tenure in the House of Representatives, he represented one of the most politically significant districts in Montserrado County, often positioning himself as a strong voice for his constituents.
Throughout his legislative career, George was regarded as a controversial yet influential figure. He did not shy away from public debate and frequently made headlines for his blunt assessments of governance, party politics, and national leadership.
In the 2023 general elections, he lost his re-election bid for District #7 but remained active in public discourse. Even after leaving the Legislature, he continued to weigh in on national political developments, offering commentary on leadership and the direction of the country.

Colleagues and community members have described him as bold, passionate, and deeply committed to his political convictions. While opinions about his methods sometimes differed, few questioned his willingness to speak his mind or defend his positions.
Montserrado County District #7, which includes densely populated sections of Monrovia, has long been a political stronghold, and George’s leadership in the district placed him at the center of many key national conversations during his time in office.
As news of his death spreads, tributes are expected from former colleagues in the Legislature, political leaders, and members of the CDC.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
Hon. Solomon C. George’s passing marks the end of a chapter in Liberia’s contemporary political history — a chapter defined by bold rhetoric, fierce loyalty to his political ideals, and unwavering engagement in national debates.
May his soul rest in peace.
